Similarly, I walked down to Mac's Place after my 8 am class, and it was closed. I did not want to get up early to get food before my class, so I figured I would just get it after. I did not have time to walk to Umphrey's, and now I had no food at all. I was just looking for a little "hold-me-over" before my next class, but instead I had to go hungry. With more hours of business in both places, students would have more options, and would be able to maintain a healthier diet.

Cafeteria Hours
Have you ever been craving food but you have nothing else but your wallet except your student ID? Well this happened to me the other day after a night of studying. I was sick of the little selection at Mac's Place, so I decided that I would make the walk to Umphrey Lee. I left the dorm at about 8:30, and once I got there, I found out that it was closed. Once again, I had to settle for either a burger or a chicken sandwich from Mac's. This put me in a bad mood for the rest of the night. I do not know why the school thinks that students never want a real meal after 8:30. I realize that Mac's Place is very convenient, but the food gets old.

I would 100% agree with the extension of hours in both Umph and Mac's. There have been many occasions where I have walked away very dissapointed and unsatisfied. For 2,300+ dollars a semester, I had higher expectations. Monday through Thursday, the hours are fine, but what if you want to eat in on Friday or Saturday? Your options are limited considering that both Macs and Umph close at 7. Oh and Sunday, don't expect anything great. Macs is closed and Umph has 4 options.... cereal, salad, fattening grilled cheese/ hamburgers or omelets ( but the women that work at the omelet station HATE their jobs and make you very aware of that, which completely turns you off from eating the only source of protein offered to you on Saturday or Sunday). Let's just say that on a college budget, which am sure most of us are on, you are limited to how many times you can eat out per week. I just wish we had more options regarding hours and types of foods. Oh and I'm sure each one of a us can attest to those late nights spent in the library writing an English paper until 1 am, and when you are finished you're starving because you haven't left the library since 6 pm and you wish you had somewhere to go to fulfill those late night hunger pains...oh wait that doesn't exist. So, we have to resort to easy mac macaroni and cheese. They aren't kidding when they refer to the "Freshman 15".
I know exactly what your talking about. After 8:30 you have to go to Mac's place and the food their is always the same. Same old pizzas and chicken burgers. Besides the same food, the service their is not very good. Also, the cafeteria and Mac's place has a very wierd schedule on the weekends. I usually end up going to Strambolli's or some restaurant nearby on the weekends. I get really mad though because we pay a lot of money for cafeteria food year round, and I usually spending money to eat outside of campus.
You guys should really fill out the food service's survey at the end of the semester and just copy and paste your comments into their box. They really need to know that the hours and selection aren't meet your health standards. I've had the same experience, walking over at the end of the semester to a closed cafeteria. There's no worse feeling!
